Equity and Justice Research

The Institute’s Equity and Justice Research projects focus on using the latest quantitative and qualitative analysis tools, coupled with community input, to illuminate areas of inequity and develop meaningful, realistic policy solutions. In partnership with The Dallas Morning News, the Institute provides data and insight to fuel the multi-year North South Gap initiative. Members of our research team work closely with the editorial staff to support this important project. The Institute is also executing a multi-year, multi-faceted exploration of the benefits of public investment. Funded, in part, by a generous grant from the National Science Foundation, the Institute is exploring the changes in quality of life for the families of South Dallas before, during, and after the DART light-rail expansion brings transportation options to the neighborhood. In addition to these major projects, the Institute provides a variety of contract evaluation research services and consulting services to businesses, governments, and non-profit organizations throughout North Texas.
